Privacy Policy
In effect from September 20, 2026 · version 2026-09-20
Skholhouse is a record-keeping and planning app for homeschooling parents. This policy says, in plain words, what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@skholhouse.com and a person will answer.
The short version
- The app is for parents. Children do not have accounts and we do not ask children for anything.
- We collect what you put in: your email, your children's first names and birth years, your family's preferences, and the records, photos, plans and notes you create.
- We do not sell your information. We do not show ads. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Some of what you type is sent to an AI service to draft plans and reviews and to sort your day's summary into records. Photos are never sent to the AI.
- Other families never see your children's names, your notes, your photos, or what you typed.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account at any time.
Who we are
Skholhouse is operated from Indiana, United States. You can reach us at hello@skholhouse.com.
What we collect
Information you give us:
- Your email address, used to sign you in and to write to you about your account.
- A family name of your choosing.
- For each child: a first name or nickname, a birth year, and, only if you choose to give it, whether the child is a girl or a boy. We do not ask for surnames, birthdays, addresses, school records or photos of your children's faces.
- Your family's settings: how you like to teach, whether you want faith-based recommendations, your state, your language, and how you like to keep track.
- The records you keep: what was done, for which child, on what day, for roughly how long, and any notes you add.
- Photos you attach to a record. These are usually photos of a child's work. Please avoid photos that show faces or identifying details if you would rather we did not hold them.
- What you type or dictate when you ask for a study plan, a weekly review, or a day summary, and the plans and reviews that come back.
Information collected automatically:
- A log of each AI request made for your family (which feature, how large it was, what it cost us), so we can apply a fair monthly allowance.
- Ordinary technical information that any website's hosting receives, such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
- The app stores a copy of your recent records on your own device so it works without a signal. Signing out clears that copy.
Children's privacy
Skholhouse is a tool for adults. It is not directed to children, children cannot create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child. Information about your children comes from you, their parent or guardian, and you decide how much to share. You may review it, change it or have it erased at any time from the Family screen or by writing to us.
How we use your information
- To run the service: signing you in, saving your records, showing them on your devices, and producing the records your state may ask you to keep.
- To draft study plans and weekly reviews and to sort day summaries, when you ask for them.
- To keep the service safe and working, and to answer you when you write to us.
- To improve Skholhouse and keep its price low. For this we use information that does not identify you: for example how many plans are kept or set aside, how long activities typically take for children of a given age, and the content of AI-drafted plans after names and family details have been removed. A plan that began with your family may, in that stripped-down form, help us offer a ready-made plan to another family. They will never see your children's names, your own words, your notes or your photos.
Artificial intelligence
Study plans, weekly reviews and day summaries are drafted by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic) running on Anthropic's servers. When you ask for one, we send only what that task needs: your children's first names, ages and, if you gave it, girl or boy; your family's settings; the words you typed or dictated; and, for a weekly review, that period's records and notes. We never send your email address, your photos, or anything about another family.
Anthropic processes this information on our behalf. Its terms for business customers say it does not use information sent this way to train its models. AI can be wrong. Plans are suggestions; you know your children and you remain the teacher.
Who helps us run Skholhouse
We share information only with companies that provide the service to us, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase: our database, sign-in system and private photo storage, located in the eastern United States.
- Netlify: hosts the website and app.
- Brevo: sends sign-in emails.
- Anthropic: drafts plans, reviews and day summaries, as described above.
- Proton: our own email, if you write to us.
- When paid plans begin, a payment processor (we expect Stripe) will handle card details. We will never see or store your card number.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If Skholhouse were ever sold or merged, your information would move with it under this same policy, and we would tell you first.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not show advertising or allow advertisers to track you.
- We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. The app stores only what it needs to keep you signed in and to work offline.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you remove a record or a child from your lists, it is hidden rather than erased, so that a slip of the thumb can be undone; it is erased for good when your account is deleted. To delete your account and everything in it, write to hello@skholhouse.com from your account's email address. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days. Information that no longer identifies you, such as totals and name-free plan templates, may be kept.
Keeping it safe
Every family's information is separated from every other family's by rules enforced inside the database itself, and those rules are tested. Photos are stored privately and shown through links that expire. Everything travels over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you promptly.
Your choices and rights
Sharing a week is always your choice. When you make a share link, anyone who has that link can see what you chose to put in it: your family name, your children's first names, a summary of that week, and only the notes and photos you ticked. A link stops working after 14 days and you can turn it off sooner. We never make a link on our own, and nothing else in your account can be reached from one.
You can see and change most of your information in the app. You may ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, and we will not treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights; we will honour any valid request. Write to hello@skholhouse.com.
Changes to this policy
If we make a change that matters, we will ask you to read and accept the new version the next time you open the app. The date at the top shows when this version took effect.
